
Luma was founded in 2001 and began creating commercial CG work for television, multimedia, and the web for a variety of clients, including several Fortune 500 companies around the world. With the goal of continuing our passion for game making, we built on our world class in-house graphics expertise and our game development backgrounds and began Luma Arcade.
Luma Arcade specializes in game development on forward-looking platforms that allow developers to connect directly with players, such as mobile devices, social networks, web platforms, and digitally distributed console games. Luma develops in-house IP as well as offering a complete suite of services from design through to development on contract. We also offer such services as game trailer development, rendered cutscenes and promotional material development, leveraging our expertise in CG and commercial quality animation.
The game design philosophy at Luma focuses on creating games with fun core play mechanics on growing, innovative platforms. We make use of reusable technology, created in-house as well as licensed from external middleware providers, and our technology allows us to deliver cross platform, immersive and entertaining applications that can be created within budgets that are typically lower cost than the norm.
The Luma team is growing and is currently over 50 employees, with additional contractors. We have teams in South Africa and North America, and will be expanding to other territories as our projects scale. Our team has experience doing games for the PS2, PSP, and Xbox platforms, as well as iPhone, PC and web games.
